First Snow

I woke up on Saturday, rolled over, and glanced out our bedroom window.

Snow!

Wait. Snow?!

A peek at my Blackberry sitting on the nightstand reaffirmed that it was indeed only December 5th. Another peek outside confirmed that yes, there was indeed a layer of white, sparkly snow covering the outside world.

Before reaching over to smack Matt into consciousness, I realized the challenge this snow presented.

You see, Dexter has a serious phobia when it comes to snow. Well, ok, two phobias. The first is the fact that he absolutely-will-not-despite-bribes-of-milk-bones-and-pupperoni go down a set of steps that are covered in snow. He'd rather stand at the top of the deck stairs, crossing his legs and doing the pee pee dance.

His other phobia involves a reluctance to do his business anywhere near the white stuff. After we leashed His Royal Highness to take him out front for a supervised bathroom break, he putzed around for about 15 minutes, ate roughly 6 cups of snow, and finally did the deed.

He's a punk.

NYC Pics of the Day

It's always been a dream of mine to visit Rockefeller Center near the holidays and watch the ice skaters. We walked over from our hotel at night and it was just as magical as I'd expected!

This is Jefferson Market Courthouse in Greenwich Village - voted 5th most beautiful building in the country. I wanted to get a shot of the full building, but it sits on the corner of an extremely busy intersection, so it just wasn't happening. I'm completely taken with SoHo and the Village - it's so full of energy and character!

NYC - Day 2 POTD

We took a gillion photos today, and it was nearly impossible to narrow it down to just one or two to share with everyone tonight. We have completely fallen in love with this city, and have decided that if we ever win the lottery, we're moving to a 5th Avenue penthouse. :-)

This first photo was taken this afternoon at Battery Park on the Hudson River. It was an absolutely gorgeous fall day.

This next one is, obviously, the Statue of Liberty, backed by a blazing sunset on the Staten Island Ferry

We're shooting an engagement session tomorrow - so excited to see what we can come up with!

NYC - Pic of the Day

Since we're in NYC, we thought it'd be fun to throw up a photo or two every day and keep a live blog going of our trip. When we get back we'll post full galleries of all the fun photos we take while up here, but this'll be a fun sneak peek!

Please excuse any weirdness with color or densities in the POTD posts - I'm working from our hotel on our un-calibrated laptop monitor (I adjusted it the best I could) so things might look a lil' off!

Here's a couple shots of our teeny itsy bitsy "boutique" hotel room. "Cheap" for Times Square, and good enough for us since we won't be spending any time in here anyway!
