"You could put her in a County Fair.."

Mere days after we had decided to cease keeping up with our personal blog, I felt a little sad about just letting it go, and decided instead to give it a total re-design and also make it available to our clients as well as friends and family so you can see and learn a little bit more about the people behind the camera.

Matt and I take lots and lots of pictures of our day-to-day life. So sit back and enjoy the show!

I found these photos stuffed away in a hard drive. We went to the Tennessee Valley Fair back in September to kill a Friday night before a double-header wedding weekend.

Oh, and who can guess where I got the title of this entry from? Leave a comment!

I loved the petting zoo, though I felt sorry for all the poor animals who were stuck in tiny pens under a hot tent.

I liked this guy... a lot.

We could not stop laughing over this dude's facial expression! He looks mighty sure of himself, doesn't he?

I was happy to see at least some of the pens had fans to help battle the heat.

Baby chicks.. oh the cute!

But nothing spikes on my Cute-O-Meter more than baby ducks. They stayed piled up like this so I wasn't really able to get a shot of their faces, but don't you just want to dive into that pile of fuzz and take a nap?

Yes, bulls can be cute, too!

Overall shot of the fair in HDR (high dynamic range)

King of the Fair, my hubby.

Matt said there was a striking resemblance between me and this painting. He's a funny guy, isn't he?

Falawful!

We love to cook, and usually we are pretty good at it. However, a recent attempt to make homemade falafel has failed not once, but twice! We decided to document the process the second time 'round, hoping for better results, but alas...

Well, just look at the pictures and see for yourself.

Preparing the side dish - at least this turned out OK:

Pouring the beans into a colander:

Rinsy Rinse

Weeding the cilantro

Meanwhile, our emergency back-up plan waits patiently in the freezer

Drying off the beans

Choppity chop

Adding everything to the food processor - good so far!

A lil' unyun

"So.. you're srsly gonna take pics of every move I make?"

Meanwhile, Dex was in the living room pining for the tennis ball that he shoved under the couch. Punkin sat presidential-like on the couch

Add some garlic

...some ground cumin

...a few other things

Pulverize!

The uncooked falafel awaits its uncertain future

It's not looking so good.. the kitchen (and house) is filling with smoke!!

Hmm... no?

Oh well!

This time, we raised the oil temperature (too much, it seemed) and added a little flour as a binding agent. Instead of falafel stew, we got hockey pucks! We think the problem this time was not using the right kind of oil to fry in, so when (if) we try it again, maybe we'll finally get a good result!

Now my request to all of you is to leave a comment and let Matt know that you have faith in him as a cook - his poor little Chef-Ego is pretty bruised right now!

Family Photos

I'm finally getting around to posting the family images that were taken while we spent some time with our West Coast Family in Placentia/Vista, CA. Better late than never, right?

Photo by Susan Nunn. Immediate family, L to R, Erin, Matt, Matt's dad (David), Matt's mom (Diane), Matt's brother (Jeremy), and Jeremy's wife Katie.
